Thehill assist doesn't engage until you press the brake pedal and come to a full stop on a hill. Once you release the brake pedal the hill assist keeps the brakes engaged until you've applied enough acceleration to start moving forward. Once you have the vehicle moving, if you lay off the gas, it will roll back down hill.
Thebrake assist feature can be enabled or disable via the SYNC 4 infotainment system on Ford F-150. Select Features on the touchscreen. Select Driver Assistance. HillAssist while driving. Just picked up a 2018 CRV Touring saturday. The only thing that i can't figure out is when you are driving at say 45 MPH, and start down a hill on the highway, to keep your speed at around 45, in my Pilot and Civic, I just tap the brake pedal and it holds that speed after releasing the brake pedal.
